The Cyber Innovation Center/National Cyber Research Park was established to create a knowledge-based workforce and diversify the region’s economic base by promoting research, education, and technological innovation and fostering collaborative and strategic alliances between governmental agencies, private industry, and academic institutions.
The Louisiana Optical Network Initiative, or LONI, is a state-of-the-art, fiber optics network that runs throughout Louisiana, and connects Louisiana and Mississippi research universities to one another as well as to Internet2 and other regional, national and international networks. LONI connects Louisiana's major research universities allowing greater collaboration on research that produces results faster and with greater accuracy.
The Center for Secure Cyberspace (CSC), a joint collaboration between Louisiana Tech University and Louisiana State University, was created to assist faculty members in their research and to support the nation’s cyber security and defense needs. Located on the campus of Louisiana Tech, the CSC capitalizes upon world-class resources of the Louisiana Optical Network Initiative (LONI), the Cyberspace Research Lab, the Cyber Innovation Center, Louisiana Tech’s Institute for Micromanufacturing, and LSU’s Center for Computation and Technology.
