Impacts:
Improve Recruitment of Faculty and Students. Today’s top researchers and faculty members are interested in developing their research into commercially viable technology and taking that technology into the market place. A research park with available space is a critical component in that recruitment and retention strategy.
Increase Private and Total Research Funding. Universities with mature parks find that important research funding comes from companies residing in the park and through joint funding submissions.
Bridge the Economic Development /University Community Gap. The Enterprise Campus strengthens the overall community and community/University relationship by providing well paying jobs, producing revenues for to the local government, and retaining educated youth.
Strengthen Business Recruitment and Retention. Companies are increasingly receptive to factoring an active research park and commercialization efforts into new facility location decisions.
Create Significant Job Opportunities for Students and Faculty. A successful park provides opportunities for student internships and faculty consulting. The Enterprise Campus It also provides an opportunity for business leaders to share their knowledge as guest lecturers and adjunct faculty.
Increase University Financial Support. Companies in mature parks continue to be a strong source for University development activity and research funding to support their activities and to share the specialized equipment and facilities of the University.
Retain and Attract College Educated Youth. Attracting and retaining educated youth strengthens the community, University, and state. A fully functional Enterprise Campus provides challenging opportunities for intellectual development and meaningful employment for these young people.
