Louisiana Tech University Technology Incubator (LTTI)

Purpose

The purpose of the LTTI technology incubator is to create successful businesses by providing assistance and facilities to stimulate small business formation, growth and development. The technology incubator provides administrative assistance and overhead facilities to start-up companies allowing them to concentrate on research, marketing, and production.

History

The LTTI, under the oversight of the Vice President for Research and Development, began in 2005. The technology incubator began with over 10,000 square feet in the old Lincoln Parish Library building acquired by the Louisiana Tech University Foundation. In 2007, Louisiana Tech University will add 7,000 additional square feet of incubator space in the new Biomedical Engineering building. The LTTI is a contributing factor to the regional community as well as the State of Louisiana’s economic engine.

Application Procedure Overview

The LTTI technology incubation program usually consists of a stay up to 3 years in the incubator. Companies participating in the program are required to meet at regular intervals with an LTTI staff member to conduct a review of the company’s progress in relation to the company’s goals. The frequency of the meetings will be determined upon entry into the program, but may be adjusted as needs warrant. Finally, upon graduation, the company will be required to participate in an LTTI Exit interview to review the time spent in the program, the value of assistance the LTTI provided to the tenant, and the tenants suggestions for potential areas of improvements to the LTTI program. Ongoing surveys will be conducted to determine the continued success of each LTTI graduate tenant.
